history
The history of Devon James Associates is filled with a number of "firsts" and innovations, tied to the movers and shakers in the markets we serve:
1992 | Founded in Bellevue, WA as a contingency/retained search firm. |
1992 | First Onsite war room at Sierra Geophysics (Kirkland, WA). We placed approximately 70 people. |
1993 | First startup Onsite war room at Visio Corp. (Seattle, WA). When we first met Visio they had 23 employees and company-wide meetings were held at Jillian’s Pool Hall on Lake Union! Recruited 63 people ranging from development to marketing to sales to customer service to finance. |
1994 | Incorporated in Washington State. |
1995 | Major war room at SPRY/CompuServe (Seattle, WA). In just over 7 months we placed over 100 people, went through a major facilities move, and lived the CompuServe acquisition. |
1996 | Dot Com war room at Amazon.com (Seattle, WA). We were onsite for over a year with 8 full-time recruiters. We placed more than 100 people and helped Amazon develop their initial HR processes. |
1997 | First Healthcare war room at Data Critical (Redmond, WA). |
1999 | We helped Avenue A (Seattle, WA) build its team, were onsite for 8 months with a team of 3, and helped in a major facilities move. |
1999-2000 | eCharge (Seattle, WA). We were onsite with our war room for 8 months, and even left behind one of our employees for a year. |
2000 | Freeinternet.com had the distinction of being our first "Dot Bomb". Right after we filled out their team the funding went dry—and we even got to attend the post-layoff party! |
August 2000 | Opened our Menlo Park, CA office. |
2001 | First California war room at Rhapsody Networks (Fremont, CA). Referred to us by Sequoia Capital and Accel Partners, we spent our time onsite at Rhapsody recruiting an entire high-end, senior software engineering team. |
2002 | Onsite War Room at Cranium, our second major foray into the world of gaming (we count Sierra Online in our portfolio of customers) to assist with building out teams for new product lines in the Kids and Corporate markets. |
We’ve helped our clients manage and control their hiring growth and ensure the quality of their new hires. We think the results speak for themselves—check out what our clients have to say about us.
